Posted by My boss had sat me down, looking for recommendations about what acts I felt would get seats filled at our newly renovated Bear’s Den at the casino. I had recently been introduced to the music of Adele from a friend of mine and thought her new single “Chasing Pavements” was quite catchy. For whatever reason, he shot that idea down! But can you imagine..!?
What if he took my suggestion and booked Adele for our small 476 seat, Greek Style theater! I think people would still be talking about “that time we saw Adele at the Bear’s Den!!”
And now, people are paying tribute to her!
I had the privilege to witness a true tribute to Adele, Ms Jennifer Cella! And I must admit, Ms Cella does Adele justice! Some may know Jennifer from her time spent with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, who sang Christmas Canon Rock, Promises to Keep, Angels We Have Heard on High, among many others, but her talent speaks for itself!
Supported by multi-talented musicians such as Jeff Allegue on Bass & guitar, Mark Klett on Piano/Keyboards & guitar, background vocals Theresa Ciavolella, Mark Ambrosino on Drums & Michael Hunter on Guitar & Violin, Jennifer & Co performed for over 2 hours, consisting of 2 sets and intermission with the first set getting us started by saying “Hello”.
“Absolute Adele” isnt just a tribute though; Ms Cella doesnt come out dressed as Adele might and sing a “greatest hits” set list, Jen portrays Adele! And if she dropped a few “F-bombs” as Adele is known for, one might think she really was Adele on stage, complete with the British accent!
Although the first set was predominately Adele’s bigger hits, set two took us back to when Adele was still climbing the charts and consisted of songs that perhaps Adele wouldve sang at that time including The Cure’s – Love Song and Bonnie Raitt’s – I Can’t Make You Love Me.
I do find it amusing how life sometimes comes full circle. I have seen Ms Cella perform with TSO in 2004 and a few times after that; they are the band I have seen the most and Im in awe after every show. As Im sure I would be if I ever had the chance to see Adele! But after Jen’s performance perhaps I can imagine how it may have been had my boss listened to me all those years ago and I wouldve walked away in awe as I did seeing “Absolute Adele” by Jennifer Cella!
