Ozzmossis – The Suffolk, Riverhead, NY

There’s a reason why Ive seen Ozzmossis as many times as I have and many reasons why I’m such a fan; Ive been a fan of Ozzy since his early days with Black Sabbath! These guys are the real deal!

The first time I saw them was at an outdoor show outside of the World Trade Center.  I had asked Ricky Woods AKA “Ozzy”, if it would be alright to shoot a few photos.  I was soon mesmerized!  Ricky possessed all of the characterizations that Ozzy is known for, including his cockney accent!  Jimmy Tee sat behind his humongous drum kit and I could barely see him, complete with 36” Gong which introduced “I Don’t Know”.  Although no longer with the band in order to seek other personal goals, Zeke showcased his bass skills and was quite animated which proved to be quite fun to shoot.  With the departure of Zeke, Andre Picard just might take Ozzmosis to the next level with his flashy antics, obligatory hair flips and thunderous bass! But the cherry on top is Mike “Machine Gun” Kelly, who matches Tony Iommi, Randy Rhodes, Jake E Lee and Zak Wylde to a “T”!!  As a complete unit, Ozzmossis is the total package!

I found myself keeping an eye on their schedule to see where they would be playing next.  Soon I was catching their act at Revolution in Amityville, Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, Stereo Garden in Patchogue, The Space in Westbury and most recently, The Suffolk in Riverhead where they played to a boisterous, vociferous and near capacity crowd!

Complete with fog and smoke, enhancing their visual effects, 8’ white crosses stood on each side of the stage, engraved with “OZZMOSSIS”, they proved once again, they are the real deal.  As a fan of Ozzy since the 70’s(!) its great to imagine what it might just be like seeing Ozzy in a more intimate setting singing such hits as “Crazy Train”, “Shot in the Dark”, “Bark at the Moon”, “I Dont Know”, “Diary of a Madman” and of course a few classic Black Sabbath hits like “Iron Man”, “War Pigs”, “Children of the Grave” and of course “Paranoid”.

I should add, they were scheduled to play 2 – 1 hour sets with a 15-20 minute intermission at The Suffolk, but we were pleasantly surprised to see them play over 2 ½ hours straight! A bonus feature which no one complained about and was expressed after the show as we were walking out, hearing patrons state that “they are the best tribute band I have ever seen” or “THAT WAS F*CKIN’ PHENOMENAL”!

Indeed they are, kind sir, indeed they are!
