Slash – S.E.R.P.E.N.T Tour 8.4.24

I was living with my sister Michele and her boyfriend when Guns & Roses released their debut album. And everytime we got to partying, we would break out that CD or maybe it was still on cassette?!  She would always make me laugh when she got to “air-drumming” or “air guitaring” or even lip-syncing, complete with facial expressions!  Memories I will forever hold dear!

One of the last things she ever posted on FB, if not the last thing, was that she wanted to visit NYC so that she and I could go to a show together. Sadly, her life was taken before we were able to do that.

I think Slash’s Blues Band featuring an all-star lineup including Johnny Griparic on bass, Tash Neal on rhythm guitar and vocals, Teddy Andreadis on Hammond/Leslie & Keys and Micheal Jerome on drums, would have been a great night for us to reconnect and strengthen our kinship. We both have a strong passion for music and Blues is one of our favorite genres.

Although the line up changes from city to city, acts like Samantha Fish, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram or Eric Gales arent always on the bill. We were fortunate enough to have Robert Randolph, an act Ive been following since his debut album, ZZ Ward, another fan of since her debut and Keb’ Mo’, long time fan there too!

Slash played for nearly 90 minutes with a setlist containing mostly cuts from his latest release “Orgy of the Damned”, which, to me, has a weird connotation for a “Blues” album; I guess a title like that would be more reserved for a band like Slipknot or Lamb of God? But what do I know?? Such songs that peppered his setlist from “ORGY” were “Killing Floor”, “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”, “Oh, Well” & “Key To The Highway” which featured special guest Dorothy who provides vocals for the album as well. Another highlight for me was the extended guitar solo version of “Stormy Monday”, a performance Im sure my sister Michele would have been talking about for years!

Here are a few highlights from his performance:
