Metalcore Night: Atreyu, Unearth, and Zero 9:36 Live Review

Long Island Sounds Contributor, Amanda Packey provides another great review for Atreyu’s performance at The Paramount, in concert with Northwell.

On November 19, 2025, Atreyu brought The Curse tour to The Paramount, in concert with Northwell, in Huntington, NY. Bringing with them fellow metalcore bands Zero 9:36 and Unearth, the night was full of metal growls, circle pits, crowd surfers, and even a wall of death.

Zero 9:36 opened the night with “Underneath,” and everyone headed to the rail to get in on the action. They played a short, but hard hitting set that included “Here to Bleed” and “Adrenaline,” ending with, fittingly, “The End.”

Following Zero 9:36, Unearth hit the stage with “The Great Dividers” and the crowd was instantly hooked. I had never heard Unearth before (I know, where have I been?), but I was immediately blown away. The vocals were powerful. The music punched me in the face. It was exactly what I want from metal. Singer Trevor Phipps has incredible metal vocals. Guitarist Peter Layman was headbanging so much, I’m actually wondering if he got dizzy. Hell, I would have. It was everything you expect from a top tier metal performance, and more. Their set included “False Idols,” “Lie to Purify,” and ended with “Black Hearts Now Reign.”

The thing about Atreyu is, these guys were having an absolute blast on stage. The whole vibe was five best friends having the time of their lives, and bringing us all along for the ride. And what a fun ride it was! Both Brandon Saller and Mark McKnight left the stage to join the pit. At one point, Saller got down on his knees in between the two guitarists and started playing both their guitars. I caught McKnight getting in a good beard combing between songs. Don’t misunderstand me, the music was amazing. But it also felt less like a concert and more like a party with friends, in the best way possible.

This tour was to celebrate the 20+1 anniversary of The Curse album, released in 2004, which they re-released in 2025. So, for their main set, they played the album in full from “Bleeding Mascara” through “Five Vicodin Chased With a Shot of Clarity.” For their encore, they played songs from four other albums, including “Ex’s and Oh’s” and “Blow.”

One really funny moment happened right after Saller joined the crowd in the pit. Apparently, on his way back to the stage, he saw someone on the phone. Saller yelled into the guy’s phone, “Why aren’t you at the show?!” Well, it turns out it was the man’s young daughter on the phone, so probably a good reason she wasn’t there. When Saller found out he felt bad, so he got the phone from the man and stopped the whole show to Facetime her. She didn’t answer. Oh man, I can only imagine what happened when the dad got home and told her who she missed a call from! But after Saller gave the phone back he asked the audience, “Anyone else want me to call their kids?”

This was, flat out, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The energy was incredible. The vibe was perfection. It was impossible to not have a good time at this show. If you have never been to an Atreyu show, go. Absolutely, go. You don’t want to miss this.

Here are highlights from all performances!!!
