On Friday, May 1, 2026, Australian progressive metalcore band Northlane came to Northwell in concert with Paramount in Huntington, NY for the first night of The Pale Moonlight Tour. This sold out show featured openers Sace6 and Wind Walkers, and closed out the evening with Dayseeker; Northlane playing third in the lineup.
Opening their set with Carbonized from their 2022 Obsidian album, Northlane did not come to play around. They came with energy and a performance that brought the crowd to its feet. And air, actually, as the crowd surfing really took off around the time they started playing Talking Heads, the third song in their set. There was even one guy crowd surfing in a banana costume. It was a lot of fun to watch the banana float through the audience on everyone’s hands.
And speaking of Talking Heads, vocalist Marcus Bridge really brought his A game on this one. The man is an incredible singer on all songs, but listening to him pull out the line “I don’t fit into my skin” is really something to hear. It’s powerful. It hits in a way that is almost cathartic. I always say metal shows are therapy, and this is what I’m talking about. When the crowd can feel a line like that and scream it along with the singer, I think it heals something in all of us.
On a side note, while this has nothing to do with his singing, I was quite taken with Bridge’s style. The red suit was a good look, but I especially loved his shoes. It’s not often I see a metal singer with that much flare, but I really liked it. Bridge, if you’re reading this, could you tell me where you got those shoes? I might need to snag a pair for myself.
Filling out the rest of the set with tracks from the Alien, Obsidian, and Mirror’s Edge albums, Northlane’s performance was 45 minutes of metalcore chaos in an absolutely packed venue that had the crowd screaming, cheering, and surfing from beginning to end. It was a really excellent show, and one I recommend checking out when the tour stops in your town.
