Before the pandemic I had stated that I wanted to branch out to more Tribute bands and for the most part I did. However, there are still several other tribute bands here on this Island that I need to catch, hopefully sooner than later! One such reason would be to catch great bands before they perhaps call it quits. Its unfortunate that Live After Death – Long Island’s Iron Maiden tribute band and Rock of Ages – Def Leppard tribute band and one or two others that I had the privilege and pleasure of shooting before they called it a day! There are also some bands that I always enjoy shooting, such as Bad Animals – Heart Tribute, Gypsy – Fleetwood Mac Tribute, Completely Unchained – Van Halen Tribute and of course Voyage – The Ultimate Journey Tribute band featuring Hugo!
So for this year, I do hope to catch a few bands I have yet had the opportunity to shoot. I am still trying to catch Freebird – Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sharped Dressed Band – ZZ Top, Journeyman – Eric Clapton, Almost Queen – Queen and Mike DelGuidice who not only plays with Billy Joel, but I understand he does a great tribute to Billy as well, whom I have tried to catch a couple times, but scheduling has previously been an issue. I should mention, these are not the only bands that I want to catch, there are many others!
I had an idea a few years ago to mimic Ozzfest! Perhaps call it Ozzmosis Fest?? Ozzmosis would obviously headline the heavy metal day along with a Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and a couple other tribute bands. On another night, Van Halen, Guns & Roses, Fleetwood Mac and maybe a Rolling Stones tribute acts?? Im sure it could be done, but my fear would be that it might not draw the crowd to support the fest! Still, I think it would be cool!
As the year is getting off the ground, I have yet had the opportunity to shoot any shows, one show in particular was due to illness while another was due in part of my day job schedule! I have had the opportunity to shoot the NY Riptide, Long Island’s professional lacrosse team at Nassau Coliseum and will hopefully catch another show or two before the year’s end at the Coliseum.
One things for sure, there are plenty of venues to choose from and the summer concert series is right around the corner, so the outdoor venues will be hosting before we know it!
