Welcome to Long Island Sounds

Thank you for visiting Long Island Sounds.

What began in 2018 as a concert photography website has grown into a celebration of the people, places, and performances that make live music so unforgettable. Through photography, feature articles, and personal stories, my goal is to preserve the memories, musicians, venues, and behind-the-scenes experiences that have shaped both my journey and Long Island’s vibrant music community.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing everyone from outstanding tribute acts such as Sticky Sweet (Def Leppard), Shoot 2 Thrill (AC/DC), Ozzmosis (Ozzy Osbourne), Freebird (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Mystic Rhythms (Rush), and Bad Animals (Heart), to internationally renowned artists including Slash, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Journey, David Gilmour, Steve Vai, Peter Frampton, Santana, and many others.

Today, Long Island Sounds is organized into several ongoing editorial series, each celebrating a different aspect of live entertainment:

Concert Features – Personal experiences, concert photography, and reflections from performances throughout Long Island and beyond.
Beyond the Spotlight – Memorable encounters and behind-the-scenes stories with the artists I’ve met during my years in the entertainment industry.
Long Island Tribute Legends – A celebration of the remarkable tribute bands preserving the music of rock’s greatest artists.
Long Island Stages – A closer look at the theaters, clubs, amphitheaters, and listening rooms that bring live music to our communities.
Behind the Production – Insights into the dedicated professionals, technology, and teamwork that transform an empty stage into an unforgettable concert experience.

While many sites focus on reviewing performances, I prefer to think of myself as an experiencer rather than a reviewer, influencer, or critic. My goal isn’t to assign ratings or critique every song—it’s to capture the atmosphere, musicianship, production, and human moments that make each performance unique.

My perspective is shaped by more than three decades in live entertainment. From my early days working on production crews to serving as Entertainment Manager overseeing multiple performing arts venues ranging from intimate 476-seat theaters to 2,200-seat performing arts centers, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the industry’s most talented production professionals. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for every aspect of a live performance, from lighting design, audio systems, staging, and rigging to the countless people working behind the scenes whose efforts often go unnoticed.
